HEIC to WEBP: what changes?

Your HEIC source

The browser decodes the primary HEIC still image; Live Photo motion, depth maps, and capture metadata are not included.

The WEBP result

WebP can store transparent pixels and often makes a convenient web asset. This route uses the browser encoder at quality 0.88.

WebP is not accepted everywhere, and a new lossy save may change fine detail. Keep the original HEIC photo.

A PRACTICAL GUIDE

HEIC / HEIF and WebP: choose the right result

A HEIC file may not be accepted by the app or upload form you need. HEIC to WEBP creates a separate WEBP copy while leaving your original file untouched.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

What does HEIC to WEBP preserve?

WebP can store transparent pixels and often makes a convenient web asset. This route uses the browser encoder at quality 0.88. WebP is not accepted everywhere, and a new lossy save may change fine detail. Keep the original HEIC photo.

Will the output keep my iPhone photo metadata?

No. This route exports the decoded primary still image, not the original HEIC container or its EXIF, GPS, depth and Live Photo information. Keep the original if those matter.

What is the HEIC image limit?

Choose one HEIC/HEIF file up to 25 MB and 13 million pixels, with no side above 65,535 pixels. Some unusual or damaged HEIC variants may not decode on this device.

Does this tool upload the photo?

No. Conversion runs in a browser worker. The decoder downloads only when you convert; your selected image is not sent to a conversion server. You can cancel the work.
